Serving as a facilitator at an STLEFT training is an excellent opportunity to deepen your EFT skills while supporting the learning of other therapists. Facilitators play an important role in creating a safe, encouraging, and experiential learning environment for participants.
What Do Facilitators Do?
Facilitators support small group experiential exercises by:
- Creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Helping participants stay engaged in structured role plays and experiential exercises.
- Encouraging participants to practice rather than discuss the model.
- Offering strengths based, supportive feedback.
- Assisting trainers by identifying questions or concerns that arise during small group work.
Facilitators are not instructors. Their role is to support participants' experiential learning while following the direction of the trainer.
Who Can Apply?
Selection varies by training and trainer, but facilitators are generally clinicians with previous EFT training and experience who are actively developing their EFT skills.
Priority may be given to clinicians with advanced EFT training, certification, ongoing supervision, leadership roles, and demonstrated involvement in the STLEFT community.
Required Preparation
All selected facilitators must complete ICEEFT's Training for Helpers before participating in a training event.
This preparation currently includes:
- EFT Helpers: Facilitating Role Play (approximately 30 minutes)
- Role Play Helper Guidelines
- Any additional orientation materials provided by the trainer or STL EFT
These resources introduce the facilitator role, review best practices for supporting experiential learning, and outline ICEEFT's expectations for creating safe, respectful learning environments.
Facilitator Application Timeline
- Facilitator applications are due approximately six weeks before the training.
- Applicants will be notified of selection decisions approximately four weeks before the training. The number of facilitators selected at that time will be based on current registration numbers, the needs of the training, ICEEFT guidance, and the trainer’s recommendations.
- Qualified applicants who are not initially selected may be placed on a facilitator waitlist. Additional facilitators may be invited if registration increases or if an opening becomes available.
- Selected facilitators must complete all required ICEEFT preparation materials no later than two weeks before the training.
- Specific application, notification, confirmation, and preparation deadlines will be listed for each training.
